Reception and Exhibition: 3rd September, 2008
A reception will be held at The Poly in Falmouth, a short
walk from the Woodlane Campus on Wednesday 3 September
from 7.30 until 10.00 pm. Transport will be provided from the Tremough Campus.
Wine and canapés will be provided by a company specializing
in locally sourced foods.
There will be an opportunity to view the exhibition Re-imagining Cornwall: Networks & Narratives in The Poly’s
newly refurbished galleries.
The exhibition will display a range of work responding to
the theme ‘Networks of Design’ from historical
and theoretical perspectives, with an emphasis on design in
Cornwall and the South West. Including designed objects, photograph,
drawings and text, topics will range from an exploration of
networks of popular culture in design (Odeon cinemas and the
seaside, for instance), to networks of transport and tourism
(railway posters), industry (mining and fishing), and craft
(Leach and others). New design solutions will be represented
by the work of postgraduate students and contemporary design
practitioners who engage with the world of design, ideas,
ideologies, concepts, technologies and social interactions.
